La adquisición de destrezas manuales y el desarrollo
de ensayos son la parte medular de la enseñanza
de las ciencias experimentales como la química y
la sica. (1,2) Durante las sesiones de laboratorio
se aplican los fundamentos teóricos de modo
que se afianza aún más el conocimiento. (3) A
parr de las reformas curriculares en la educación
cienfica, a inicio de los años 60 del siglo pasado, el
trabajo experimental se ulizó con la idea de que
los estudiantes se ocuparan de invesgaciones,
descubrimientos, indagaciones y resolución de
problemas por lo que el trabajo experimental
se volvió entonces el centro de la enseñanza y
aprendizaje de la ciencia. (4,5) El laboratorio es
un espacio sico diseñado y equipado para que
los estudiantes adquieran nociones y habilidades
de cómo funciona la naturaleza, también de cómo
se desarrollan invesgaciones cienficas, en un
ambiente controlado y seguro. (6)
Una de las práccas experimentales que se
realizan en los laboratorios de química, tanto para
familiarizar al estudiante con el estudio de las
propiedades de los gases, así como el manejo de
reacvos, es la obtención de oxígeno gaseoso.(7)
En los laboratorios de enseñanza este elemento se
obene a parr de reacvos químicos oxidantes,
cómo el perclorato de potasio, permanganato de
potasio, peróxido de sodio (oxilita), entre otros.(8)
La descomposición térmica o catalíca del clorato
de potasio (KClO3), usando como catalizador
dióxido de manganeso (MnO2), es una de las
reacciones más ulizadas. (9) En abril de 2023,
con la publicación en Registro Oficial del Acuerdo
Ministerial N°145, se limitó la compra, transporte
y almacenamiento de clorato de potasio, por
su carácter oxidante y explosivo.(10) Con estas
disposiciones de carácter legal, se deben realizar
trámites engorrosos para la adquisición y gesón
del clorato de potasio, causando problemas en las
instuciones educavas que ulizan el reacvo.
En el ensayo de obtención de O2 se realizan pruebas
de laboratorio que enen varias ventajas entre
ellas se resalta que: son fácilmente reproducibles,
el material que se usa es de fácil manipulación,
permiten abordar de manera pedagógica diferentes
conceptos teóricos químicos y biológicos, tratados
en las cátedras como: velocidad de reacción,
reacciones con metales y no metales, catálisis,
poder oxidante del agua oxigenada, cambio de
color de indicadores frente a reacciones ácido
base, entre otros.(11)

Por los movos mencionados es necesario buscar
alternavas efecvas, eco amigables y sostenibles
para sustuir el uso del KClO3. En este trabajo
se presenta la obtención de oxígeno, mediante
la descomposición catalíca del peróxido de
hidrógeno para estudiar las propiedades de este
gas con fines educavos y de docencia.
Métodología de la invesgación:
Esta invesgación es de po experimental puesto
que todos los ensayos se realizaron en un ambiente
controlado y reproducible para obtener datos
medibles. Se ulizó un diseño experimental de “un
factor a la vez”, cambiando, en un inicio la fuente
de catalizador, para luego estudiar la influencia del
volumen de peroxido empleado.
PROCEDIMIENTO EXPERIMENTAL
Para el desarrollo experimental, en la tabla 1 se
detallan los materiales ulizados con sus respecvas
especificaciones, los mismos que se pueden
observar en la figura 1, de igual manera en la tabla
2 se enlista los reacvos con sus especificaciones.
