The development of humanity maintains a close relationship with the surrounding biodiversity, from which it obtains goods and services. The study of social perceptions about the importance of a species is necessary to be able to know, disseminate and contribute to the conservation of species. Juglans neotropica Diels, native to the Andes, has traditionally been used in various ways; to document them, a survey based on the Likert scale was carried out in the parishes of San Antonio de Ibarra and San Francisco de Natabuela, province of Imbabura. For the analysis, frequency tables, descriptive statistics and correlation analysis were carried out between the numerical values of the survey. It was determined that the main uses of the species are timber, the most relevant being carving (72,72%), followed by cabinetmaking (53,59%) and furniture (52,49%). Of the thirteen proposed uses, an average relevance of 3,01 was obtained, equivalent to not very relevant; while for carving the average was 3,97 classifieds as relevant. In the correlation analysis, it was recorded that 32,05% of the relationships presented p-values <0,0001, that is, highly significant correlations. It was determined that Juglans neotropica has multiple uses and is considered of relevant importance in Imbabura.
