Abstract

The research analyzes a sustainable variable to conventional textiles, proposing the use of milk casein. This analysis seeks to reduce the environmental alteration of the textile industry, notable for its great use of resources and waste generation. With the help of a combined methodology, we tried to acquire fibers from casein, however, we achieved films with poor properties such as resistance and flexibility.

The results achieved provide new lines of research to renew the mechanical properties of casein films. Research on crosslinking agents and optimization of production conditions are proposed. Despite the challenges, the potential of casein as a raw material and the sustainability of the process offer a promising approach to develop more sustainable textiles. Further research is suggested to overcome the current limitations and achieve industrial scale production of casein fibers with the necessary characteristics for their application.
